Course Description:

This course is designed to address the understanding of well control techniques to drillers or supervisor levels to meet the International Association of Drilling Contractors standards. The course provides practical well control skills by presenting the most commonly used well control techniques through hands-on simulation exercises.

Upon completion of this course the participant will have good understanding of the following main topics:

  1. Causes of kicks
  2. Warning signs of kicks
  3. Pressure concepts and calculation
  4. Procedures
  5. Gas characteristics and behavior
  6. Fluids
  7. Constant bottom hole pressure, well control methods
  8. well control equipment
  9. Simulating exercises

International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) certification will be issued for all participants who will successfully pass the final exam.
